Code of Conduct

Introduction

This Code of Conduct is established to provide a clear framework for the expected behaviour of all students at Acharya Bangalore B-School (ABBS). Adherence to these guidelines is essential to maintain a positive, respectful, and productive academic environment.

General Behaviour

  • Respect and Dignity: Students must treat all members of the ABBS community, including faculty, staff, and peers, with respect and dignity.
  • Non-Discrimination: Discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.
  • Integrity: Students must act with integrity in all academic and non-academic activities. Cheating, plagiarism, and any form of dishonest behaviour are not tolerated.

Academic Conduct

  • Class Attendance: Students are required to attend all scheduled classes, seminars, and workshops. Attendance records will be maintained, and unjustified absences will be addressed.
  • Participation: Active participation in class discussions, group projects, and other academic activities is encouraged.
  • Assignments and Examinations: All academic work submitted by students must be their own. Collaboration is only permitted when explicitly allowed by the instructor. Proper citation of sources is mandatory to avoid plagiarism.
  • Academic Integrity: Any form of cheating or academic dishonesty, including but not limited to using unauthorized materials during exams, submitting work completed by others, or falsifying data, is strictly prohibited.

Classroom Conduct

  • Punctuality: Students must arrive on time for all classes and remain until the session is concluded.
  • Respect for Faculty: Students should listen attentively and respect the faculty’s authority in the classroom. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Use of Electronic Devices: Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be turned off or set to silent mode during classes unless permitted for academic purposes.

Campus Behaviour

  • Dress Code: Students are expected to dress appropriately. Specific guidelines will be provided by the institution.
  • Alcohol and Drugs: The use, possession, or distribution of alcohol and illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking: Smoking is not allowed within the campus premises.
  • Cleanliness: Students are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in all campus areas.

Library and Laboratory Conduct

  • Library Usage: Students must maintain silence in the library. Books and resources should be handled with care and returned on time. Misuse or theft of library materials is a serious offence.
  • Laboratory Conduct: Students must follow all safety protocols in laboratories. Equipment should be used responsibly, and any damages must be reported immediately.

Extracuriccular Activities

  • Participation: Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, including clubs, sports, and cultural events, to enhance their overall development.
  • Conduct during Events: Behaviour during extracurricular activities should reflect the values of respect, integrity, and responsibility.

Digital Conduct

  • Online Behaviour: Students must adhere to ethical standards in all online interactions, including social media and academic forums.
  • Cyberbullying: Any form of cyberbullying or harassment through digital platforms is strictly prohibited.
  • Academic Use of Technology: Students must use technology responsibly for academic purposes and refrain from engaging in activities that could be considered disruptive or unethical.

Grievance Redressal

  • Reporting Issues: Students are encouraged to report any grievances or issues to the designated authorities. The institution has a clear process for addressing complaints confidentially and fairly.
  • Resolution Process: Efforts will be made to resolve issues promptly and effectively, ensuring the well-being of all parties involved.

Disciplinary Actions

  • Violations: Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the offence.
  • Due Process: Disciplinary actions will follow a fair process, giving students the opportunity to explain their actions before any decisions are made.

Health and Safety

  • Personal Safety: Students must take responsibility for their personal safety and the safety of others. Any hazardous conditions or activities should be reported immediately.
  • Emergency Procedures: Students should familiarize themselves with emergency procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
  • Medical Emergencies: In case of medical emergencies, students should contact campus health services or the nearest hospital immediately.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Tuition and Fees: Students are responsible for timely payment of tuition and other fees. Failure to do so may result in penalties or restrictions.

Interactions with External Entities

  • Representation of ABBS: When representing ABBS in external events or interactions, students must uphold the values and reputation of the institution.
  • Guest Speakers and Visitors: Students should treat guest speakers and visitors with respect and courtesy.

Environmental Responsibility

  • Sustainability Practices: Students are encouraged to engage in sustainable practices, including recycling, conserving energy, and reducing waste.
  • Environmental Awareness: Participation in environmental initiatives and awareness programs is encouraged to promote a sustainable campus.

Community Engagement

  • Social Responsibility: Students are encouraged to participate in community service and social responsibility initiatives.
  • Ethical Conduct: Involvement in community activities should reflect the ethical standards and values upheld by ABBS.

Confidentiality

  • Privacy of Information: Students must respect the confidentiality of information related to the institution, faculty, staff, and fellow students.
  • Data Protection: Personal data should be handled responsibly and in compliance with data protection regulations.

Reasearch Conduct

  • Ethical Research: Students involved in research activities must adhere to ethical guidelines and standards.
  • Plagiarism: All research work must be original, and proper citations must be used to acknowledge sources.

Commitment to Code of Conduct: All students are required to read, understand, and sign a commitment to adhere to this Code of Conduct. This demonstrates their agreement to uphold the values and standards of ABBS
